Went with Alison and Jenna, had a wonderful time, and seriously, why do I take so many more pictures when I'm with Alison and her megacamera? Only stayed for half of batting practice, because it was time for the first annual Beliefs in Baseball! Jenna and I headed to the right field patio to hear Sid Bream, MattE Diaz, and team chaplain Jay McSwain.
Sid had a very serious conversation with this girl.
MattE's portion of the event was great.
The chaplain wore a lot of jewelry.
They had a Q&A after each portion, and I asked MattE a question I've always wondered. See, I go to church every Sunday and I'm one of the youth leaders, so I teach some Sundays and Wednesdays and help create, organize, and supervise activities. How do MLBers usually worship, with their busy schedules during the season? MattE responded that they have the chaplain who does Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday services. Apparently a lot of guys attend on Saturdays because Sunday is a "condensed day", and he said he gets more personal study done on the road. No one asked who attends services, and I don't think they'd answer if anyone had asked. Anyway, it was cool to hear and I'm glad teams have a chaplain available to them.
